Pastor Okereke’s milk of human kindness

In the 19th August, 2012, edition of Sunday Mirror of Sunday Mirror, under this column, Dr. Emmanuel Chima Okereke, General Overseer, Global Success Ministries, wrote that ‘what he enjoys most is when he sees himself being used by God to help the poor, widows and orphans by giving out food items, clothes, scholarship, paying house rents and so on’. This act of Charity works or alms giving have indeed become part of Dr. Okereke’s calling as an anointed man of God. Many people from different ethnic groups and backgrounds across the length and breadth of this country have benefited from the GO’s generosity, which to a very large extent, added values and meaning to the lives of many.

Stories and testimonies abound of how God is using this great man of God to create empowerment and impact on people for the purpose of drastically improving their wellbeing or miraculously changing their lifestyle completely for good. It is just as the Bible says, “Old things shall pass away and everything shall become new.” There are those he had raised from grass to grace, from a zero level to the zenith, from nothing to something and from emptiness to plenty.

Take the case of Florence Uchenna, a widow with five children who was chased out of her husband’s house with her children. She was abandoned with no food to eat and no money to take care of the children. When her matter was brought to the notice of this powerful minister of God, he took pity, prayed with her and presented her with a sum of N55, 000 and a bag of rice to support her family and business. Here is her narration in an interview with Sunday Mirror during the week:

“I was in the church to sow a thanksgiving seed at the ‘Altar of Resurrection’ of Global Success Ministries in appreciation of all that God has done in my life and the life of my children since I lost my husband. Even the family had kicked me and the children out of my late husband’s house and abandoned us to our faith. The man of God earlier instructed that no matter the situation you are passing through, we should not fail to sow a seed at the altar. That day, I was left with N50 only; but I decided to offer it to God. After I offered the N50 and prayed to God, I decided to sit a while and study my Bible. “While studying my Bible, the man of God drove into the church premises and entered the church. Immediately he entered the church, the spirit of God ministered to him and he asked someone to call me where I was sitting. When I came close to him, he started prophesying to me; he said, ‘your husband is dead and you are left alone with five children and right now things are very difficult for you and the children’. In tears, I said ‘yes sir, it’s true.’ Then I told him that I only came to sow the last N50 I have in my house and as it is right now, no food in the house for my children to eat. I told him that even the food business I was into before, stopped because there was no money to support it and that I now work as a housemaid, just to get something to take care of my children, which does not take us anywhere. Without knowing it, I burst out crying, telling the G.O that I don’t have transport money to go back to where I live and that I just have to sow the seed in strict obedience to the will of God through His minister. The man of God looked fixedly into my eyes and showed sympathy. That day, he gave me N5, 000 to go and take care of my children and then come with them to the Wednesday service in the church the same week.

”During the Wednesday service, titled: ‘Rain of Favour’, the man of God called us out and to my greatest surprise, he blessed us with a cash gift of N50, 000 and a big bag of rice.”

Chidimma Ike, a nursing mother whose husband has been thrown out of job, and has no food in the house to eat, is another instance worth mentioning. She said her poverty level affected her ability and strength to feed the baby as her stomach was empty.

The man of God also took special interest in her case and she was given a sum of N55, 000 and a bag of rice. She testified on how she had her encounter with the man of God.

“The situation was so critical for me that I had to text Global success Ministry Church’s line. I explained that I am a nursing mother (still breast-feeding a baby) and my husband has no job; he has searched for job everywhere but has not been able to secure any. There was no food in the house to eat and no means or money to buy any to eat as a nursing mother. We tried to borrow money to eat but no one was ready to lend us. It got to an extent that my breast could no longer produce milk to feed my baby because I was carrying an empty stomach. Luckily for me, the man of God quickly sent a ‘sister’ with N5, 000 to my home where I reside. She gave me the money and told me to be present in the Wednesday service with my husband. Immediately I collected the money from the sister, I handed my baby to someone else and ran to the market to buy some food-stuff to prepare good meal for the family.

“During the Wednesday service, the man of God called us out and we narrated what we were passing through. Then he surprised us with a cash gift of N50, 000 and a big bag of rice.

These families showered gratitude to God for using his servant Dr, Emmanuel Chima Okereke, to give them reasons to live again. They prayed that God Almighty would shower more anointing on him and grant him all the desires of his heart in Jesus’ name and the congregation in wild jubilation of what God has done shouted, ‘Amen. Praise God!’

Onyeoka Emmanuel received a grand gift of N100, 000 from the man of God to support himself and family in paying their house rent. He thanked God for supplying his needs according to His riches in glory through his servant Dr. Okereke. Twentyfour widows were also given N10, 000 each to support their business.

Felicia Chima was given a sum of N120, 000 to start up her own business, as the family was going through a difficult time. She thanked God whose mercy endures forever for using His Servant to bless her with such amount of money.

One of the widows gave a brief talk in appreciation of what God had been using Dr. Okereke to do in the lives of widows. “Some people out there used to see look down on widows, they despise us and don’t even want to render help to us but since we stepped our feet on this great ministry, our lives have changed. The man of God blessed us with food Items, clothes and school fees for our children. In fact, through him, we have got a new life and a reason to live again. We pray that God will grant him long life, protection and more grace and anointing to continue his good work to all mankind. If only pastors and other Christians all over the world can emulate the footsteps of this servant of God, the world will be a better place for all. We also pray that as he continues in his Ministries and this calling, he shall make Heaven at last in Jesus’ name.”

August 28 2012 was a memorable day in the lives of all present in Global Success Ministry auditorium. Apart from the anointing power of the Almighty God that flows through the man of God and left many with testimonies, we were also blessed with food items, e.g., bags of rice, cartons’ of Indomie noodles and clothes.

The August 28 event was to commemorate the ‘solidarity march against poverty in Africa’ which first held same day last year by the African Development Movement (ADM) group, pioneered by Okereke. The march took place from the church premises at Global Success Street to Apple Junction, after FESTAC Link Bridge, Amuwo –Odofin, Lagos, and patriotic Nigerians and dignitaries participated in the march. It was also an avenue to reach out to the poor and the needy of this nation, to carry them along, put smiles on their faces and make their lives what living, irrespective of the economic situation in the nation. After the first solidarity march, some items were distributed to the lessprivileged- the orphans and the widows, especially. Most of them present in that programme were surprised at the packages given to them by the servant of God Dr. Okereke.

The book of Matthew 25: 31-40 states, “When the son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And above him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on the right hand, but the goats on the left.. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
