Do not overburden your wives, says Prophet Collins

General Overseer of Olive Mountain of Prayer and Praise ministries, Prophet Collins Timothy, has urged men not to allow their wives to take the place of the man in the home by shouldering major family responsibilities. The headship of the man in family setting, he contended, must be demonstrated not only through his quality leadership but also in the man’s ability to provide food, shelter and education of the children. Prophet Collins was speaking at the fourth convention of the church’s annual Women’s Day held at Ijegun, Lagos last Sunday.

He added that in a situation where both the husband and wife work, the husband must not expect her to carry the family responsibility just because she works.

“Every month, he should provide for the family’s food and pay the children’s school fees when due. The man should understand what the Bible says, that the man is the head of the home.

“This must be understood within the right context that a woman is only a helpmate, and that the man should carry the responsibility of the home and put things in shape.

According to the man of God, provision for the home must not come from the wife; it makes the wife to control the husband. “If a man takes up his responsibility in the home seriously, there will be peace. A woman should only assist when the man is down.

If a man does not earn enough to shoulder the responsibilities, he should approach his working-class wife with a good heart and the children must not know that mummy is carrying the weight of family responsibility, it must be seen as joint effort,” Prophet Collins asserted.

He noted that ordinarily, many women are disposed to obeying their husbands but would rather follow their own mind.

Hence, he advised the womenfolk to cultivate the habit of contentment in what was within the reach of their families.

The annual event was celebrated on the theme, “Virtuous season for a good mother”. According the General Overseer, it was devoted to teaching the women of Olive Mountain of prayer and Praise Ministries how to keep their homes peaceful and progressive.
