E xpert advocates active government participation in built industry BABALOLA YUSUF A member of the Nigerian institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) Hamzat Abduraman has called on both the federal and state government to place more priority on the development of the real estate sector. Hamzat speaking to National mirror in Lagos, he said investing in the real estate sector is tantamount to strengthening the economy of the country. He said, “If government can invest more in the housing sector, I believe it will be a huge success for both the government and the people and I think the best they can do is to encourage mortgage financing and low medium income development which will bring about development in the real estate He also said government should ensure that perfecting title for properties should be done with ease, “Titling is another problem that government must deal with because this is perfecting titles is very cumbersome, acquiring a land is easy but acquiring tittles is always very cumbersome.
